Here are a few feature stories I wrote while in J School that never made it to a printed format.
The Detroit Pinball League – While pinball has all but faded out of the mainstream consciousness, a group of men from around metro Detroit steadfastly collect repair, and play the machines collecting dust in some forgotten corner of a theater or bowling alley. They come from different walks of life, but share in their fascination with the machines. For them, no modern video game can compare to the feel of the real thing.
Forgotten Harvest – Curtis Thomas drives a truck for Forgotten Harvest, a food rescue in the metro Detroit area. He picks up unwanted food from upscale grocery stores in Bloomfield and takes it to homeless shelters in downtown Detroit. Everyday he sees the disparity between rich and poor, and everyday he is thankful for what he has.
